Step Up Disability Services is looking for a Casual Sports Coach/Support Worker (Uni Student of Sports and Science, Exercise Physiology, Education, Community Services, or any other students studying health related degrees) who lives in or around Kellyville NSW or Lidcombe NSW.

Best Candidates for this job:
As our programs run in multiple locations, happy to travel to all program locations (e.g. The Ponds, Blacktown, Parramatta, Olympic Park, Lidcombe, Northmead, Ryde, Epping, and Hills areas)
Currently studying Sports Science or other health related Uni degree
Sports Coach Work Experience
Children or Disability Support Work Experience
Holding P2 or Full License WITH own vehicle
Positions Available
4 x Casual Sports Coach / Support Worker
Potential Opportunity: If Management is happy with your performance and you have completed study, you have the opportunity to discuss for the Full-Time Employment after a minimum of 1 year of your casual employment.
MINIMUM Required Available Days and Hours:
CASUAL: 3 weekdays between 2.45pm and 5.45pm (weekly) & Saturday 9am-1pm (fortnightly)
Potential Working Hours:
Weekday: Mix of Adults' and Kids' Program (3-9hrs, between 9am-5.45pm)
Saturday Adults' and Kids's Program (4-6hrs, between 9am-4pm)
Potential Roles:
(Primary) Running the Physical Activity Program and assisting participants to follow the instructions (Including pick-up and drop-off before and after each program).
(Primary) Assisting participants to learn independent and life skills.
(Primary) Providing transport support to assist participants going to and from the programs or other places (e.g. therapy sessions, classes, or accessing community).
(Occasionally) Overnight Respite with the participants at StepUp Accommodation or Hotel.
About StepUp Programs:
Provide/Assist in basic to intermediate level of exercises, sports, independent skills Programs either in a Group Setting or Individually (e.g. swimming, bike riding, archery, tennis, soccer, bowling, basketball, baseball, throwing and catching balls, travel training, money handling, road safety).
About your Roles. You MUST be able to:
Provide Person-Centred for individualised support
Self-Motivator: Responsible and Reliable individual
Fully focus on the participants at all times (NO mobile phone use for personal activities)
Motivate and encourage participants to exercise
Before and after each session, communicate with the parents/carer to discuss the progress
Update Management Team of any progress, incidents, behaviours
Teach participants to learn basic skills in various exercise and sports
Keep a positive, happy and friendly environment
Respect all other mentors and participants
Notice and prevent any potential hazards
Provide transport (pick-up and drop-off students) using your own vehicle if required
Always follow the company policies, systems and procedures
Required Skills / Personality:
Great communication skills WITH confidence
Enthusiastic, Self-motivated, and High-standard in providing supports
WILLINGNESS TO ASSIST PARTICIPANTS IN THE SWIMMING POOL - during the warm and hot seasons once every couple of days
Experience in various sports, children, and maybe people with special needs
Excellent Time Management (lateness is unacceptable)
Responsible and Reliable
Trustworthy and Honest
Caring with empathy
Positive to follow company policies, systems and procedures
Team Player and Eager to learn
Have own vehicle and driver’s license (P2 or Full)
Ability to lead the participants with authority and encouragement
Ability to notice and react quickly to safety hazards
Desired experience:
Experience with minors, e.g. children and/or people with special needs

Weekday Hourly Rates (based on the experience & qualification):
Casual: $33-$36 p/h
