About the role

Fluid Power AU is seeking a dedicated and experienced Workshop Supervisor to lead our skilled team in Darwin. This key leadership role offers the opportunity to oversee daily workshop operations, ensuring top-quality service delivery to our clients across diverse industries including Mining, Oil & Gas, and Defence.

As the Workshop Supervisor, you will play an essential role in managing operations, mentoring tradespeople, and ensuring every project runs smoothly and efficiently. What you'll be doing

Lead & Manage: Supervise a small team of tradespeople and apprentices, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

Prioritise & Allocate Work: Schedule and allocate work effectively to ensure projects are completed on time and to the highest standard.

Technical Guidance: Provide mentorship and hands-on support to your team, helping them develop their skills and reach their potential.

Quality & Safety Focus: Maintain high standards for quality, safety, and productivity across all workshop activities.

Client Interaction: Liaise directly with clients to understand their needs and provide regular updates on project progress.

Collaboration: Work closely with engineering staff to ensure project-specific requirements are met.

Documentation & Reporting: Prepare detailed reports, including project-specific Quality Management documentation, Quotes and Estimates.

Training: Deliver hands-on, task-based training for apprentices to foster their development.

Compliance & Regulations: Ensure all workshop activities comply with industry standards and company policies.

Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the growth and success of Fluid Power AU by suggesting improvements and innovative solutions.

What we're looking for

Hands-on Experience: Extensive experience as a Mechanical Fitter/Machinist, with a good understanding of workshop operations. Knowledge of hydraulic systems is desirable.

Leadership: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team of tradespeople and apprentices effectively.

Problem-Solver: A solutions-driven mindset with a knack for thinking outside the box to overcome challenges.

Customer-Focused: Strong customer service skills, with an appreciation for cultivating long-term business relationships.

Quality Commitment: A dedication to delivering both high-quality products and services.

Safety First: A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.

Organized & Efficient: Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Mentoring Passion: Enthusiasm for sharing your knowledge and guiding less experienced team members.

Attention to Detail: A keen eye for quality and detail in all aspects of your work.

Tech-Savvy: Strong computer skills, especially with the MS Office Suite.

Excellent Report Writing: Skilled at preparing clear and concise technical reports.

Continuous Learner: A passion for personal and professional development.

Boilermaking: knowledge of fabricating and welding is desirable.
