Davidson is working with a state government client who is seeking an experienced Senior Advisor with experience within Governance, Policy, Risk & Compliance.

About the Role

This role will lead key elements of the holistic approach to governance, policy, risk and compliance program of work to support the department's engagement with internal and external stakeholders and ensure regulatory compliance.

• Supporting the delivery of the departments governance, policy, risk and compliance activities in the annual program of work, development of effective work flows and systems, implementing effective and consistent formal communication strategies - whilst providing focused training and undertaking other risk mitigation activities needed to ensure a high quality of internal service across the agency;
• Reviewing a range of policy documents to ensure clarity, consistency and ease of understanding
• Provide data analysis and data visualisation (e.g. PPT and Excel) of governance, policy, risk and compliance activities to inform the broader remit of the risk and compliance team, communicate with stakeholders, inform decision making and manage risk;
• Preparing a range of complex governance, policy, risk and compliance documents including briefing notes, analytical reports and options papers to ensure the department meets its accountability obligations for effective internal and external oversight;
• Researching, analysing and evaluating issues, including governance, risk, compliance and policy issues, associated with corporate governance and risk management, and providing advice to senior management as required;
• Contributing to the development and review of governance frameworks and related policies;
• Contributing to projects that drive innovation and continuous improvement.

About you

• Proven experience in governance, policy, risk and compliance within a complex, dynamic and highly regulated operating environment.
• Highly developed communication skills, together with MS Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI (or will work toward similar) and other relevant applications to support risk and compliance functions.
• Excellent ability to develop and refine organisational policy and governance instruments.
• Demonstrated stakeholder skills, including coordination of key programs of work within the governance, risk and compliance architecture with the gravitas and skills to enhance and challenge ways of working and provide risk-informed leadership.

• $76.50 to $81.69 per hour + Super (PAYG Agency Contractor)
• Contract up to September 2025
