Davidson is working with a state government client who is seeking an experienced AO6 Senior Advisor (WHS - Safety).

About the Role

In the role of Senior Advisor (WHS) you perform a frontline advisory and support role to project and contract managers within the Infrastructure Management and Delivery (IMD) division for South Coast Region, providing expert contractor safety assurance advice and support.

The role will report to regional management, but will work with health and safety practitioners and contractor safety assurance roles across IMD South Coast Region to support the delivery of the divisional model for WHS. The role will focus on the monitoring of external principal contractors and their health and safety performance on projects where the department is the client.

• Work collaboratively with peer roles, project and regional leadership in contractor safety assurance as part of the IMD WHS Delivery Mode
• Maintain awareness of and competency in good practice and contemporary, emerging practices in line with performing required Contractor Safety Assurance functions.
• Support timely and effective incident reporting and investigation by principal contractors and support the departments project teams in reviewing, understanding and monitoring improvement actions.
• Support the implementation of contractor safety assurance content, including through the delivery of training, consultation with project and contract managements, and ongoing monitoring for effectiveness.
• Support project and contract administration teams in application of Client-Side Safety Governance (CSSG) including review and analysis of project data and reports to support contractor safety assurance.
• Lead and support workplace visits, inspections and audits at principal contractor workplaces to support the departments project teams in maintaining an awareness and understanding of principal contractor systems and risk management controls, including the review, understanding and monitoring of improvement actions.

About you

• Experience in a similar role.
• Certificate 4 in WHS
• Interpretation, understanding, and application of WHS legislations, Australian and international standards, certification, and accreditation criteria.
• The implementation of WHS policies, procedures, standards, guidance, and tools as they relate to the delivery of projects where the department is the client.
• The identification and effective management of principal contractor safety performance issues and opportunities, and
• The implementation of established contemporary good practice for client roles on construction projects.
• The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Criminal History Check prior to starting.

The Benefits

• $77.02 per hour + Super (PAYG Agency Contractor)
• Contract up to June 2026
• Gold Coast Location
• Full-time hours, Monday to Friday
