Lead the design vision behind South East Queensland’s next generation of homes.

At Wilson Design and Build, we believe great homes start with great design. Our team is reshaping what residential construction looks like across South East Queensland, combining architectural excellence with practical buildability. We're now looking for a driven and creative Head of Design to lead our in-house design studio.

From bespoke custom homes to investment properties, your work will help shape the future of two dynamic building brands — Wilson Design and Build and Builders Brisbane.

About the Role

This is more than a drafting job. As our Head of Design, you’ll take a hands-on leadership role in shaping the designs that define our homes — from high-end custom builds to smart, efficient investment properties.

You’ll:

Work directly in ArchiCAD (or confidently learn it if you're experienced in similar platforms like Revit).

Design bespoke homes tailored to individual client briefs and block conditions.

Collaborate closely with our sales team, turning client visions into practical concept plans.

Lead the ongoing development of our W Collection — a premium range of spec homes created for modern Queensland living.

Make amendments and generate new investment property designs for our sister company Builders Brisbane, a fast-growing builder with strong ties to the property investment and real estate sector.

This role suits someone who wants to bring both creativity and structure to a growing, design-led team — while working across a variety of project types.

You’ll have the full support of:

A dedicated BIM Manager – a Master of Architecture with deep experience in ArchiCAD, ready to assist you with modelling, documentation, and best practices.

Our Director, who has been designing homes for over a decade and remains hands-on in the creative process.

Another team member with a degree in Building Design, who brings technical expertise and local know-how.

Together, we’re a team that loves solving problems, sharing ideas, and helping each other grow.

You’ll Thrive Here If You Have:

Experience designing or drafting residential homes in ArchiCAD (or transferable skills from Revit, AutoCAD etc.).

A strong grasp of building design standards, compliance, and construction methods.

A flair for designing smart, beautiful homes — and a good sense for what works in the real world.

The ability to balance creative design with efficiency and budget requirements.

A collaborative approach — you're confident leading projects but open to input from across the team.

A strong portfolio that shows custom home designs or project homes you’ve helped bring to life.

What You'll Be Working On

No two days will be the same. One day you’ll be refining a high-end custom design with a client, the next you might be developing a sleek investment property that will be replicated across South East Queensland. You’ll also be a key player in:

Leading our in-house design documentation from concept to build-ready.

Ensuring plans are site-responsive, practical, and meet all planning/regulatory requirements.

Supporting Builders Brisbane’s expansion through efficient and attractive investment home designs.
