About this opportunity:
As a Building Certifier with Mackay Regional Council, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and quality of building projects within our community.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing Building Certification services in accordance with the Planning Act and Building Act to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Offering expert advice on building legislation matters to stakeholders, including developers, builders, and residents.
- Administering and enforcing development-related legislation to ensure compliance with council regulations and standards.
- Conducting inspections and assessments to verify compliance with building codes and standards.
- Collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to facilitate smooth and efficient development processes.
- Keeping abreast of changes and updates to building and development legislation, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Working closely with the Development Compliance team and internal departments and assisting with Compliance investigations where necessary.
Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
- A current QBCC endorsement to perform building certifying functions as a private certifier (a private certification endorsement).
- A private certifier (class A), being a private certifier whose QBCC license has development approval endorsement.
- A current holder of a QBCC License for a Building Certifier - level 1 is preferred however level 2 would also be considered based on experience.
- A Current QLD 'C' Class Drivers Licence.
- Proven Experience in Building Certification and Development Compliance
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Planning Act and Building Act
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Base annual salary of $ 102,793.60 subject to negotiations
- Up to 18% superannuation (conditions apply)
