The Senior Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely compliance with accounting and tax obligations, and providing exceptional client service. You will play a key role in managing client relationships, delivering high-quality bookkeeping services, and collaborating with the wider accounting team to support business performance and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Serve as the primary contact for day-to-day client needs, inquiries, and issues

Cultivate strong, long-term relationships by understanding each client’s financial and business objectives

Ensure client expectations are met and exceeded in every interaction

Deliver accurate and timely bookkeeping services, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, bank reconciliations, and BAS preparation

Collaborate with accountants to ensure timely financial reporting and compliance

Identify financial or compliance risks for clients and assist in resolving them

Participate in client onboarding and transitions, ensuring a seamless experience

Identify opportunities to expand or enhance services based on client needs

Drive process improvements by leveraging accounting technologies and tools

Provide informal mentoring and support to junior team members

To be successful in this role, you will have:

At least 10 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting

Strong client management skills and a proactive service mindset

Advanced knowledge of Xero (and ideally other cloud-based systems)

Working knowledge of Australian BAS, GST, superannuation, and payroll

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities

The ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
