About the role:
The Regional Manager – Waste and Environment Services leads the delivery of waste, landfill, recycling, and environmental services across East Arnhem Regional Council communities, ensuring high standards and regulatory compliance. The role focuses on strengthening community-level service delivery, supporting sustainable practices, and advancing long-term strategic planning aligned with best-practice waste and environmental management.
To be successful in this role, you will possess the following:
A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in Environmental Health or Environmental Engineering.
Highly developed analytical and conceptual skills with a demonstrated capacity to drive continuous improvement.
Demonstrated experience in project management with the ability to effectively coordinate stakeholders involved in each project.
Ability to communicate effectively at a high level with a range of people in Government Agencies, Indigenous Community and Local Boards.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Proven ability to assess complex problems and make recommendations for solutions using creative and critical thinking.
Advanced oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, including effective stakeholder engagement, active listening and experience in navigating conflict and challenging situations.
Proven effective time management with the ability to work autonomously.
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook) and an ability to learn new software.
A current C Class Drivers Licence with the ability to drive manual transmission vehicles.
It would be desirable if you also possessed:
Hold a Heavy Rigid (HR) Driver Licence or willingness to obtain.
Previous experience living and/or working in remote Australian First Nations’ communities.
Demonstrated high level of cross-cultural awareness to ensure effective participation in a multi-cultural workplace.
Awareness of issues affecting First Nations People in Australia.
All employment with the EARC is subject to a Criminal History Check and the ability to obtain a Working with Children Clearance. Criminal history will not exclude an applicant unless it is relevant to the inherent requirements to their position.
What you'll get in return:
Full Time Permanent Employment
Level 10 - Salary $129,285 - $137,158 (excluding super and locality allowance).
You will also benefit from 6 weeks of Annual Leave with 17.5% leave loading.
