Job Description

We’re currently seeking a full-time Station Hand or Family to assist the owners in the day to day running of the cattle operation on a long-term basis.

This is a hands-on role involving all aspects of day-to-day station operations, with a strong focus on cattle handling, working as part of a team and independently.

This position will require a current HC truck licence

Key Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties include but are not limited to:

Cattle handling and processing using low stress animal handling techniques

Mustering cattle using bikes, buggies and/or horses (depending on experience)

Yard work including drafting, branding, tagging, and weaning

Fence repairs and general station maintenance

Safe operation and maintaining of vehicles, tools, machinery and equipment

Safe operation tractors, grader, trucks and other farm vehicles

Preform water runs, monitor and maintain water supplies including bores and tanks

Preform infrastructure checks

Feeding of supplements

Supporting seasonal tasks such as preg-testing, trucking, and calving

Job Requirements:

Along with having previous exposure to handling and working with cattle, there is an onus on the applicants to be mechanically inclined to ensure the successful operation of various station equipment and basic mechanical repairs. Successful candidates will have a positive, can-do approach and demonstrate:

Previous experience working with cattle

A commitment to the highest standards of animal welfare and animal handling

A safety focussed attitude where you take care of yourself and others

Current HC truck licence Driver’s licence essential

Mechanical, fabrication and operation skills

Having sound physically and mentally fitness, that enables you to safely undertake the physical and mental aspects of a job in remote and often hash climatic conditions

Strong organisational skills

Strong communication skills and a willingness to adapt or learn new practices

Honest, reliable, and respectful of people’s property
