As the Category Director you will be responsible for leading a category team and have accountability for the development and implementation of the category strategic vision ensuring its alignment with the overall procurement strategy for Queensland Health. You will also be responsible for managing and providing leadership, support and guidance to the category team and for developing and implementing category and sourcing strategies.
What you'll do
- Oversee the development, coordination and implementation of the category strategy and monitor and report on progress, including input to performance reports for the governing body for QH's procurement strategy and other key stakeholders.
- Develop deep category, product and supplier knowledge to facilitate the planning, coordination and realisation of projects and activities that drive continuous improvement within the category and the procurement function.
- Manage and control the agreed overhead budget for the category team.
- Ensure adequate analysis and planning is undertaken to enable effective supplier negotiations which delivers a sound cost base and strategic commercial agreements which optimise value for money.
- Ensure early procurement engagement in significant spend areas to maximise procurement's impact.
