Centre Director, Teacher, Nominated Supervisor and Educational Leader
Community-Based, Child-Led Early Learning
Permanent Full-Time | Gold Coast, QLD
Our Kindergarten is seeking a Centre Director, Teacher, Nominated Supervisor and Educational Leader to lead our long-standing, community-based service into its next chapter.
Are you an experienced early childhood leader passionate about nature play, child-led learning, and community values?
Do you thrive in a collaborative, play-rich environment where children’s voices are at the heart of every decision?
About Us
Our Kindergarten is a 44-place, not-for-profit kindergarten that delivers a high-quality Approved Kindergarten Program across two groups per week. We are deeply committed to play-based, child-initiated learning and have built a strong identity around nature-rich experiences, loose parts play, and responsive, respectful relationships.
Job Share Consideration:
We are open to considering a job share arrangement for this role, with two suitable applicants sharing hours and responsibilities across the week. This would likely be based on three days a week (one Monday to Wednesday and the other Wednesday to Friday)
This arrangement would require individuals who demonstrate excellent communication skills, a strong commitment to collaborative leadership, and the ability to work respectfully and inclusively with one another. A united approach to decision-making, consistency in practice, and a shared commitment to the centre’s philosophy are essential for this arrangement to be successful.
The Role
This integrated position combines educational and operational leadership, with the successful applicant assuming responsibility for delivering a high-quality, inclusive early childhood program that aligns with our centre’s philosophy and values. The role also ensures full compliance with the National Quality Framework (NQF), the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG), the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations, and the Queensland Kindergarten Funding Guidelines.
You’ll be the champion of our philosophy, leading by example to embed respectful, child-centred, and community-focused practices across the service. This is a hands-on role, not office-bound—you’ll be present with the children daily, supporting both their learning and your team’s professional growth.
Key Responsibilities Include
Leading curriculum planning, programming, and documentation in alignment with EYLF and QKLG
Building strong, trusting relationships with children, families, educators, and the community
Mentoring and managing staff, supporting reflective practice and professional development
Overseeing regulatory compliance, enrolments, funding, and committee collaboration
Embedding the centre’s philosophy into every aspect of the service
We’re seeking a kind-hearted, confident, and collaborative leader who:
Has a deep understanding of the community kindergarten model and the Queensland early childhood landscape
Thrives in a child-led, play-based environment and embraces the unpredictability and joy of unstructured learning
Leads decisively and respectfully, making sound decisions, managing conflict, and bringing people together
Respects the wisdom of the team and values the voices of children, families, and educators
Has excellent time management, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work alongside a volunteer committee
Essential Qualifications
ACECQA approved Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood or equivalent
Current Blue Card
Senior First Aid Certificate (including anaphylaxis and asthma management)
