About the Role
This role is responsible for managing the organisation’s relationships with key financial regulators. It provides expert guidance to the business and senior leaders on regulatory obligations, monitoring regulatory developments, and translating complex requirements into actionable insights.
The purpose of the position is to ensure that the fund can proactively manage its regulatory risk across all business units while fostering deep relationships with external regulators.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage relationships and engagement strategies with financial regulators including APRA, ASIC, AUSTRAC, OAIC, and others;
- Develop and implement an annual regulatory engagement plan aligned with focus areas and engagement approaches;
- Enable robust and proactive communication with regulators;
- Provide timely insights and updates to the Board, Executives, and Senior Leaders on new and existing regulatory expectations;
- Offer subject matter expertise and guidance to Line 1 teams to manage regulatory risks effectively;
- Provide oversight and final sign-off on the regulatory engagement program;
- Embed the 3 Lines of Accountability model into regulatory affairs;
- Conduct cyclical risk management activities including material risk and KRI assessments; AND
- Lead development and maintenance of a control framework aligned with the organisation’s risk appetite.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- 7+ years of regulatory affairs and compliance experience within financial services, with exposure to superannuation and investments;
- Demonstrated experience in a senior compliance or risk role;
- Strong knowledge and experience with superannuation legislation, including SIS Act and Corporations Act;
- Deep understanding of the regulatory obligations applicable to Australian financial services organisations;
- Proven experience as a key liaison and primary contact point for regulators;
- Ability to clearly articulate and communicate complex regulatory concepts to stakeholders at all levels;
- Track record of individual contribution and collaboration across enterprise teams;
