An exciting opportunity exists to step into an Engineering Manager role, embarking on a complex, multi-year transformation program. This role sits above the Principal Engineer level and combines deep hands-on technical expertise with strong team leadership. You’ll be working on a greenfield derivatives trading platform, playing a pivotal role in building scalable, event-driven systems from the ground up.

What You’ll Do

Lead a team of 10 engineers through technical delivery, architectural design, and mentoring

Take an active, hands-on role in problem-solving and technical decision-making

Partner closely with senior leadership to remove blockers and maintain momentum

Help transition legacy systems to AWS-based microservices architecture

Shape the future of Exchange Traded Derivatives (ETD) systems within a highly regulated, mission-critical environment

Key Skills & Experience

Strong hands-on engineering background with Java and Spring

Experience leading teams delivering large-scale, complex systems

Proven ability in cloud transformation – particularly from on-premise to AWS (incl. Lambda, EKS, EventBridge)

Proficiency in Kafka, event-driven architecture, and CI/CD practices (GitHub, GitLab, etc.)

Background in financial markets is essential – exposure to trading, clearing, or risk systems is a major advantage

Experience with greenfield builds and working in a fast-paced, iterative delivery model

Comfortable balancing 60% hands-on technical work with 40% team leadership and delivery ownership

Prior experience as a Principal Engineer stepping into management or an Engineering Manager with deep technical roots is ideal

Nice to Have

Exposure to serverless architectures

Full-stack experience with Java and React
