AST Networks is a small international Telecommunications company based in WA, delivering high-quality satellite technologies across Australia. As a business, we are entering our next phase of growth and are looking for an additional member of our Finance Team to support this development.

We’re currently seeking an experienced Accounts & Payroll Officer to support our Head of Finance, HR & Operations to support our business through this next phase of development. This is a hands-on role suited to professionals who are technically strong, detail-focused, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.

The opportunity

You’ll be a key part of a small, collaborative finance team, working closely with the Head of Finance, HR & Operations and key team members involved in accounting, invoicing and debtor management. You’ll be involved in supporting month-end processes, reconciling key accounts, validating data across systems, and contributing to business improvement initiatives such as the implementation of a new CRM system.

This is a part-time fixed term role. We are ideally looking for someone 25-30 hours per week, spread across 5 days, based in our office in Landsdale. Opportunity exists for potential increase of hours or extension of contract.

To succeed in this role, you must have initiative to troubleshoot, and problem solve as needed; be ready to roll up your sleeves and take ownership of the detail-heavy, manual nature of our current processes from the outset. This include implementing process improvement opportunities to simplify our regular accounting activities, solving problems as they arise, and navigating legacy systems and multiple systems that don’t always talk to each other.

The position is ideal for an experienced professional who is comfortable with small team environments, willing to lean-in to responsibilities and contribute to the business ‘beyond the job description’. We are looking for someone who is eager to make an impact from day one.

Key responsibilities

Perform Daily Bank Reconciliations and assist with Cashflow Mgt

Perform month-end reporting, account reconciliations, and journals (Experience with SAGE Evolution and Netsuite are beneficial)

Involvement in payroll calculations and payroll processing (Experience with Xero is beneficial)

Credit Card Reconciliations

Manage the Fixed Asset Register

Identify and resolve discrepancies through collaboration with other team members

Support implementation of new systems and process improvements

Contribute to data integrity and validation across platforms

Involvement in accounts receivable and accounts payable functions

Potential involvement in budgeting and forecasting initiatives

Contributing to office support activities as needed e.g. Post-Office Runs, Order Collections, Phone & Email monitoring. (Minor component of the role required to enable backup cover for other key team members when on leave)

What we're looking for

Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance or working towards.

Proven experience in a similar Accounts & Payroll Officer role

Proficient with accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Excel, Word & PowerPoint

Solid understanding of financial processes and internal controls

Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and interest in problem solving and process redevelopment

Confident communicator with the ability to work cross-functionally

Able to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently

CRM experience desirable but not essential
