The office of Senator the Hon Sue Lines is seeking applications for a full-time, non-ongoing Administration Officer, based in the West Perth Electorate Office.
This contract is for 6 months non-ongoing with the possibility of becoming ongoing employment.
About Senator Lines
Senator Lines has been President of the Australian Senate since August 2022 and a Senator for Western Australia since 2013. Senator Lines was born in Western Australia attending Gosnells Primary School and Armadale Senior High School before obtaining a Bachelor of Education from Murdoch University.
She is the first female Labor President of the Senate since Federation and the second only female President following the election of Liberal Senator Margaret Reid in 1996.
As a Senator for WA, Senator Lines has travelled extensively throughout regional and rural areas meeting with First Nations women, farming groups, Aboriginal corporations, and community leaders.

Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive, organised, and community-minded Administration Officer to join our Electorate Office team. This dynamic and varied role provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to the smooth running of our office operations and to support local community engagement efforts.
The key duties of the position include but are not limited to:
Administrative Support
· Manage Senator’s diary and travel bookings.
· Manage office diary entries and meeting information.
· Handle constituent enquiries and maintain contact lists.
· Order and manage office supplies and stationery.
· Monitor and maintain Australia Post PO Box and stock.
· Coordinate requests for Flag and Nationhood materials.
· Perform First Aid/Emergency Warden duties and maintain safety equipment.
Electorate Office Operations
· Check mail daily and coordinate mailouts and mail merges.
· Support correspondence management and office record-keeping.
· Maintain office amenities including photocopiers, pantry stock, and kitchen supplies.
· Open and close the office, manage phone calls, and ensure general tidiness.
· Participate in project work and provide additional support as required.
Community Engagement
· Assist with planning and delivering local events, including catering and logistics.
· Represent the office at community events and stalls when needed.
· Work collaboratively with the team on stakeholder engagement initiatives.

Employment conditions:
The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2024-27 which include:
A commencing salary between $71,808 and $76,022 will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills.
An additional optional allowance may be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work.
An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable.
Applicants should note the following:
· An initial probationary period of three months may apply and may be subject to extension.
· The successful applicant may be required to undergo a National Police History Check.
· Staff may be subject to automatic cessation triggers in accordance with Section 14 of the MOP(S) Act.
· The successful applicant will be required to comply with their obligations under the Behaviour Codes and Standards.
· For staff employed by a Minister or Parliamentary Secretary either in a personal or electorate staff position, it is a condition of your employment that you obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 2 security clearance and comply with the Ministerial Staff Code of Conduct.
