Base Salary Range: $120,000 - $140,000 plus superannuation
Working Arrangements: Hybrid, 3-days working from home and 2-days in the office
Professional Development: $6,000 per annum

CEnet is inviting applications from experienced and values-driven professionals for the position of Manager, People & Culture. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract, commencing in July 2025, to cover a parental leave period.
About CEnet
We are a not-for-profit, Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) shared services organisation supporting Catholic diocesan education networks that connect school communities across New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, the Australian Capital Territory and the Northern Territory and beyond. In total, CEnet provides ICT services to over 780 schools, representing 335,000 students, teachers and administrative staff across Australia.
About you
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on HR leader with a proven ability to design and deliver people strategies that build capability, drive engagement, and support organisational growth. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in talent management, attraction and retention, remuneration frameworks, and employee wellbeing, with a strong focus on fostering a positive and high-performing culture. They will be proactive, values-driven, and experienced in policy development, compliance, and the effective use of HR systems to support operational excellence.
About the role
- People Strategy: Developing and implementing an overarching people strategy with an emphasis on building capability, promoting employee engagement and participation.
- Attraction and Retention: Developing and implementing a range of best practice attraction and retention related strategies to ensure CEnet has the required talent to achieve its objectives.
- Talent Management: Developing and implementing a range of best practice performance management strategies and programs with a view to increasing capability, succession planning and promoting active career management. May involve supporting functional managers with performance management related issues and remediation processes including coordination of dispute resolution processes.
- Remuneration: Developing and maintaining CEnet’s remuneration review model ensuring it is fair, equitable, supportable and transparent. This may also involve commissioning external advice on the model and/or salary benchmarking reports.
- Employee Wellbeing: Enhance and lead the implementation of the employee wellbeing framework, promoting a culture of health, engagement, and support across the organisation.
- Monitoring the workplace environment to ensure the wellbeing of CEnet’s employees. Chair the WHS Management Committee including overseeing CEnet’s employee wellbeing program.
- Organisational Culture: Take an active role in the area of organisational culture including periodic assessments and developing a program for continual improvement.
- Policy Development: Developing and implementing fit-for-purpose policies and supporting frameworks to ensure human resource related functions meet organisational requirements. Assist the Chair of the Remuneration Committee to prepare the annual work plan, set meeting agendas, prepare meeting papers and attend Committee meetings.
- System Administration: Administering the HRIS / Payroll applications (ELMO / Findex), monitoring usage, maximising utilisation and continually improving / developing to meet the ongoing needs of the organisation.
- Compliance: Administering employment records ensuring they are maintained accurately and in accordance with legislative requirements including those around privacy. This includes meeting the compliance requirements of governmental and other regulatory bodies including bodies responsible for Work Health & Safety (WHS) and the various state based Working With Children (WWC) legislation.
- Complete any other reasonable additional duties as allocated to you by your manager
Essential Criteria
- Extensive experience in human resources, coupled with relevant tertiary qualification/s.
- A general understanding of the mission of Catholic Education.
- Proven skills in management, leadership, team building, consulting, negotiation, and facilitation.
- Expert knowledge of Human Resource organisational policies and practices.
- Expert knowledge of generalist Human Resources best practice.
- Experience applying the Mercer Remuneration Framework to assess and structure compensation, and conducting Mercer Job Evaluations to align roles with market standards and internal equity.
- Strategic business knowledge and understanding.
- Strong relationship management and influencing skills.
- Excellent communication skills and highly service oriented.
- Knowledge of current employment legislation and ‘Employer of Choice’ practices.
- Proven business partnering capability.
- Ability to interact effectively at an executive and strategic level
