Located in the rolling hills of the Central Tablelands with proximity to the Blue Mountains and Sydney, Oberon offers a country lifestyle whilst being a footstep away from the next scenic adventure.

An exciting opportunity has become available at Oberon Council for a highly motivated and proactive Community Services and Youth Coordinator.

This role works closely with the Corporate Services Director and community members to develop, promote, and implement local services, activities, and events, with a focus on youth and elderly residents. It also includes coordinating and assisting residents of Council’s Independent Living Units.

You will be skilled in community engagement and program delivery, able to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, and provide effective administrative and customer service support. This role reports directly to the Corporate Services Director.

The Essential Requirements

Minimum Certificate IV in Business, Community Services, or related field

Minimum 2 years’ relevant work experience, preferably in local government

Demonstrated ability to establish, implement, and evaluate community programs and proactively engage with key stakeholders

Experience working with financial data and monitoring budgets for events and initiatives

Excellent customer service skills, including managing challenging situations

Strong time management and organisational skills

Positive interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication, including report preparation

High-level Microsoft 365 skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook

The Desirable Requirements

Previous experience in Community Services and youth-related areas

Current Class C Driver Licence

WHAT’S ON OFFER

Salary Grade 10, as per Council’s salary system

11.5% Superannuation

35 hours per week

Monday to Friday – 9-day fortnight with a rostered day off on an agreed day

Working hours are 8:15am to 4:33pm with a 30-minute unpaid meal break

Laptop provided

Corporate clothing allowance as per Council policy
