About the role:
The City of Belmont has an opportunity for an energetic and experienced Community Development professional.

As the Coordinator Community Development, you will be responsible for the day-today operations of the Community Development section. Your focus will be on service planning, community capacity building, community engagement, policy development, contract management and delivery of a quality service.

You will contribute to the development, implementation and review of strategies, plans, policies, work practices and procedures to ensure that they remain contemporary, sustainable and meet the needs of the City and its stakeholders.

This position holds responsibility for coordination and planning of the City of Belmont’s prestigious Sister City Program with Adachi-Ku in Japan. Spanning 40 years the Sister City Program promotes cultural, educational, and economic exchanges between the two cities. The Coordinator Community Development holds a hands-on role in the continued success of the Sister City Program’s annual exchanges and activities.

Other key focuses include but not limited to Early Years, Healthy Communities, Volunteers, and oversees key contracts for provision of the City’s youth service, and family and domestic violence service. You will work in conjunction with the Manager Economic and Community Development to build capacity and relationships with community groups and stakeholders.

About you:
To be successful, you will have completed or have substantial progress towards, a tertiary qualification in either community development, social services or a relevant area and have significant relevant experience working at a senior level in a similar position.

You will also have a proven ability to effectively lead staff coupled with highly developed interpersonal, conflict resolution, negotiation, facilitation and public speaking skills and the ability to communicate with a wide range of diverse people and groups.

You will have demonstrated experience to successfully manage significant community service contracts and high-profile projects for the City.

Successful applicants will have the ability to meet the entry requirements to visit Japan.
