About the position:
Woomera Aboriginal Corporation is looking for a part-time Community Connections Officer to work in partnership with the local Aboriginal community and other relevant stakeholders to enhance access to established supports and services that meet the needs of individuals and the community. This position is based in Albury and may require some travel to Deniliquin.
The Community Connections Officer is required to establish and maintain a network of mutually beneficial relationships, with the aim of maximising opportunities for linkages and referrals, to improve service outcomes for Aboriginal people in the Albury area.
The Community Connections Officer will identify service, social participation and community engagement barriers and assist in developing solutions to those barriers e.g., organising community events. The Community Connections Officer will provide information, advice, support and advocacy for solutions to meet the needs of our Aboriginal community.
This is an identified position and Proof of Aboriginality is a legitimate requirement. Exemption is claimed under Section 14d of the Anti-discrimination Act 1977.

Woomera Aboriginal Corporation is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation that provides culturally appropriate services across the lands and waterways of the Wiradjuri, Perepa Perepa, and Wamba Wamba peoples. Woomera Aboriginal Corporation was founded in 1990 and offers a range of housing, early education, out of home care, family violence and targeted early intervention services.

Essential Skills and Knowledge
Minimum Cert IV in Community Services or relevant
A demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people including culture, strengths and any barriers faced in accessing opportunities
Demonstrated strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills
Ability to work autonomously and as part of the wider Woomera team, to plan, organise own work in meeting deadlines, and achieve identified objectives and targets
A current NSW Working with Children’s Check
A current satisfactory National Police Check
A current driver’s license
Desirable Skills &Knowledge or Qualifications & Experience
Previous experience working in Community Services
Previous experience in organsing events and stakeholder engagement
Established ties within the Wiradjuri Aboriginal community is desirable including knowledge of the local area and local people
