North West Community Services Inc (NWCS) is a long established, not for profit, community based organisation, servicing individuals and families within Sydney’s North West Growth Area, with a particular focus on Blacktown North West and the North West Growth Area. NWCS has an exciting role for a suitably qualified and experienced professional to join our Community Connections Team providing leadership to a small team of professionals, along with providing frontline services for a range of funding programs.
The Position
The Community Connections (CC) team is funded by a range of State and Federal agencies, along with private philanthropic funding. Services include support for vulnerable individuals and families, emergency relief, child and youth programs, employment initiatives, gambling support etc. Services range from group activities, volunteer activity, community events and community capacity building activities, including advocacy, community consultation, and planning to meet emerging needs.
The Team Leader will have a broad range of responsibilities that encompasses corporate accountabilities, data collation and reporting, continuous quality improvement and ensuring services and programs comply with a range of regulatory obligations. The position will integrate opportunities across various funded programs and secure outcome based opportunities aligned to funding requirements.
The position will lead a small and growing team to deliver a number of funded programs, whilst also directly providing frontline services/programs, particularly as part of our DCJ TEI funded services. The role provides a range of engaging activities that build community capacity, social cohesion and belonging, with a focus on community strengthening and community wellbeing.
The successful candidate will have the following essential requirements:
Degree qualifications in social science/ human services/community services etc
Demonstrated commitment to social justice, cultural diversity, accountability and integrity
Five years industry experience working with vulnerable families including experience with family early interventions and/or youth services
Demonstrated experience with community development practice
Demonstrated capacity to lead a team, building a respectful and cohesive culture within a rapidly changing environment
Strong level of communication, interpersonal and writing skills, use of Microsoft Office and client data management systems
Ability to network, consult and respond to the needs of diverse groups of stakeholders
Demonstrated experience managing diverse programs and competing deadlines including managing budgets and resources
Risk and Compliance with Workplace Health and Safety requirements and with provisions of the Child and Young Persons Care and Protection Act and Child Safe Regulations
Commitment to social justice, cultural diversity, accountability and integrity
High level attention to detail.
Drivers Licence and fully insured motor vehicle
National Police Check
Working with Children Check
First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
Desirable Criteria
We encourage applicants from ATSI or CALD backgrounds
Familiar with the Department of Communities and Justice- Targeted Early Intervention Program
