The Role
We are currently seeking a Veterinary Technician to support seasonal dairy cow herd work across our farms in Togari & Woolnorth (25 minutes from Smithton). This position is ideal for someone passionate about herd health and animal husbandry, with a focus on improving cow performance and driving key health programs. The role is hands-on and will see you working closely with our farm managers, staff and chosen Veterinary Contractor to support both day-to-day operations and long-term planning.

Key Responsibilities

· Hoof trimming and lameness prevention

· Assisting with AI programs

· Pregnancy testing and record keeping

· Speccing and monitoring fresh calvers to ensure smooth transitions

· Leading vaccination programs across farms

· Supporting and implementing biosecurity protocols

· Training farm staff in animal husbandry best practices

· Collaborating with team members to identify and address herd health issues

Skills and Experience

We’re looking for someone who brings:

· Strong animal husbandry skills and a proactive approach to herd care

· Hands-on experience with seasonal dairy cow herd work

· Strong animal health knowledge with a passion for cows

· The ability to work within a team and communicate confidently and clearly

· Previous experience with AI, preg testing, hoof trimming or biosecurity (desirable but not essential—training provided for the right candidate)

· Certificate III or above in Animal Care

· A valid driver’s license
