What is our Dental Therapist role?
The successful applicant will provide dental care for enrolled children in Dental Therapy Centres. This includes:
- Maintaining patient records and central management records in accordance with DHS instructions.
- Supervising and giving guidance to Dental Clinic Assistants and student Dental Clinic Assistants.
- Providing information and presentations on oral health to individuals, schools, community groups and health professionals and implementing preventive programs in community groups.

Attraction and Retention Incentive (ARI)
An ARI ranging from $6000 to $10,000 pa. has been approved and is payable to Dental Therapists who are engaged in regional Western Australia before 30 June 2025. The ARI is payable in three instalments subject to meeting eligibility requirements. DHS is part of the North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS) and is the largest public dental health services provider in WA, operating state-wide from a network of fixed and mobile clinics, funded by the WA Government. DHS provides the School Dental Service for children aged 5-16 years, General Dental Services to eligible adults with a current health care card or pension concession card, Subsidy Schemes and Special Dental Services.

Eligibility to Apply: Australian citizenship or permanent residency is an essential requirement for applicants to be considered for permanent positions in the public sector. To be eligible for a fixed term appointment you must have documentary evidence of your entitlement to live and work in Australia for the period of the contract.

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
