What you will be doing:
• Lead major parts of the design and implementation of policy responses to address First Nations housing and homelessness and whole of government reforms including the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.
• Lead or undertake special projects and providing project management of complex policy work.
• Develop productive relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders.
• Analyse policy issues and consult with senior officers and managers as appropriate in developing proposals and advice.
• Prepare or assist in the preparation of high quality, complex written reports, submissions, briefing notes, legislation, presentations, speeches, publications and correspondence in accordance with deadlines.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and with other levels of government, industry and non-government organisations to achieve policy outcomes and deliver on Government priorities and commitments.
• Represent the department in meetings, committees, interdepartmental and community working groups as required.
• Support and help maintain a workplace safety culture by ensuring that all policies and practices concerning Workplace Health and Safety are applied and a part of day-to-day operations.

• Establish clear plans to deliver projects within agreed timeframes and make effective use of individual and team capabilities to achieve outcomes.
• Provide advice that is rigorously considered and supported by a clear rationale.
• Apply specialised knowledge, skills and judgement associated with policy analysis, evaluation and review and utilise knowledge to achieve outcomes.
• Sound knowledge of social policy issues is highly desirable.
