We are currently offering a traineeship which combines structured training with paid employment – allowing you to gain hands-on experience and practical skills in a real-world work environment.
About the role:
The position of Trainees Entry Level General Hand will carry out a variety of civil engineering tasks, as requested by Engineering Supervisors, associated with the general construction and maintenance of roads, drains, footpaths and other engineering assets within the City and successfully obtaining a qualification in Civil Construction. The position is for a 3-year fixed term contract period to support the learning required to complete a Certificate III in Civil Construction and most of the time will be spent gaining on the job experience. There is a requirement of attending TAFE as part of gaining the qualification. There may be further opportunities within the City of Swan once the traineeship has been completed.
Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
- Comply with relevant Occupational Safety and Health legislation and complete all work in a safe and efficient manner, having regard to own safety, the public and that of other workers
- Operate and maintain all associated plant in accordance with Safe Working Practices, City policy and procedures
- Successfully complete the requirements of Certificate III in Civil Construction and Plant Operation
- Carry out a variety of civil engineering tasks as requested by Engineering Supervisors, associated with the general construction and maintenance of roads, drains, footpaths and other engineering assets
- Ensure that developed procedures and guidelines are followed
- Provide feedback in toolbox meetings to correct quality deviations and/or faults

The successful candidate will have the following:
- Willingness and commitment to complete a Certificate III in Civil Construction
- C Class Driver’s Licence
- Safety Awareness Training Certificate
- General construction induction card (White Card)
- A friendly and positive can-do attitude, with a willingness to learn
- Interest in developing knowledge in maintenance and construction
- Interest in developing Work, Health and Safety (WHS) knowledge and practices

The salary for this position will be from $69,003.03 - $69,920.49 per annum (includes loading), depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
