About the role

The Shire of Victoria Plains is seeking an experienced General Hand to join our Parks and Gardens team. This full-time role is based in Calingiri, Western Australia and will involve assisting with the maintenance and upkeep of the Shire's public parks, gardens, and open spaces.

What you'll be doing

• Mowing, edging, and trimming of lawn and garden areas
• Planting, watering, and maintaining flowers, shrubs, and trees
• Weeding, mulching, and fertilising garden beds
• Performing basic landscaping and gardening tasks as required
• Operating and maintaining various gardening equipment and tools
• Assisting with the set-up and pack-down of community events
• Providing a high level of customer service to the local community

What we're looking for

• Previous experience in a general hand or parks and gardens role
• Knowledge of horticulture, landscaping, and grounds maintenance
• Proficient in the use of gardening equipment and tools
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong customer service skills and a collaborative approach
• Excellent time management and organisational abilities
• Physically fit and able to perform manual labour tasks
• A current driver's licence
