Customer Operations for Brisbane Biotech start-up
We are a small and growing start-up looking for an operational / customer generalist. The role combines a number of different disciplines, so we don’t expect you to be qualified in them all. What matters more is learning agility and a transferrable set of skills.
Our ideal candidate is resourceful, proactive, and possesses strong organisational planning skills. You are a problem solver, have great attention to detail, and are willing to roll up your sleeves to lend a hand where needed. You’re flexible and can readily accommodate changing priorities.
The nature of the role requires someone in the office (for at least 5 hours) Monday through Friday. We’re open to the role being performed either full or part time (i.e. school hours). Our HQ is located in Sherwood, in the western suburbs of Brisbane, with ample parking and close train and bus services.

Each day will look a little different, but broadly involves:
Logistics / production
Overseeing and project planning our production activities to customer timetables
Oversight and management of our team of casual assembly technicians as they assemble testing kits. Rolling up sleeves to support assembly as required!
Generating and placing labels for kit items - checking this against customer and regulatory requirements
External shipping labelling (involves customs declarations)
Managing our inventory (currently spreadsheet based). Looking at current stock levels, what has expired, preparing purchase orders.
Accepting and checking delivery packages
Booking and managing couriers, arranging shipping paperwork
Customer support
First point of contact to resolve customer issues relating to shipping, logistics, warehousing
Reporting and administration of customer issues (via Confluence or Jira)
Executing actions or initiatives that improve the customer onboarding experience
Supporting other account management activities as required
Quality management
Supporting the Operations Director to configure and roll out our ERP, Odoo, across the business
Supporting the Operations Director to build a quality management system. Will involve understanding the regulatory landscape, quality systems, quality control.
Office management
Supporting the smooth running of the office
Office supplies, shopping runs, contractor liaison, watering office plants and general kitchen upkeep
On occasion, booking and managing team travel
Other ad hoc activities as required
The skills we value
We don’t have a particular background in mind, we’re more focused on inherent skills. We will shortlist candidates with:
At least 5 years workplace experience
Exceptional attention to detail
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Resourcefulness and a continuous improvement mindset
Desire to grow alongside business and take on different roles and more responsibility as we mature
Worked in small business setting or even better, exposure to (or experience in) business scale up
Bonus points for previously working within a quality management system!
