The City of Subiaco is going through a transformation with significant change and evolution in terms of residential options, the commercial sector, retail, entertainment, leisure and recreation. Navigating this change in partnership with the community, business and stakeholders, whilst also celebrating Subiaco's heritage, history and culture is an exciting challenge.

This role sits in the Parks and Environment Services branch and will coordinate the planning, development and renewal of the City's public open spaces and associated assets.

The key responsibilities of this role are to:

  • Coordinate the preparation of masterplans, concept and detailed designs including cost estimates, for the refurbishment of public open space, including parks, streetscapes and landscape development projects.
  • Coordinate the development of contract specifications for both capital renewal and recurrent works.
  • Coordinate and report on the implementation of capital works, in accordance with contract administration requirements and budget management.
  • Coordinate practical completion processes for public open space development and renewal projects for the City.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of contract specifications and guidelines for capital renewal and recurrent works programs in conjunction with Coordinator Parks Operations.
  • Coordinate and deliver the parks improvement and capital works programs.
  • Undertake or oversee stakeholder and community engagement processes in relation to Public Open Space development projects.
  • Provide leadership, direction, guidance and support to the Parks and Environment Branch.
  • Establish work plans and monitor workflows to meet task and project deadlines.
  • Plan, prioritise and deliver public open space projects and initiatives undertaken by the section.
  • Prepare and manage the branch capital works budget.
  • Coordinate the investigation of issues and provision of advice and technical information to residents, community groups, government authorities and other local governments.
  • Coordinate risk assessments of park areas and municipal open space.
  • Prepare reports, correspondence and other documentation on parks and landscape development issues in Subiaco.
  • Advise on annual budget proposals and oversee expenditure on parks capital works projects and programs.
  • Any other duties as required.

Essential criteria:

  • Demonstrated understanding of public open space design requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in the planning and delivery of public open space development and renewal projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in people and budget management and a high level of organisational ability in planning, prioritising and achieving outcomes to deadlines.
  • Highly developed and proven interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
  • Relevant experience in contract and project management, including the preparation and review of contract specification for public open space development projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish, develop and maintain new systems, strategies and procedures.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Well-developed ability to use corporate computer systems.
  • Relevant tertiary level qualifications in either Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Landscape Construction and/or project management and/or relevant work experience.
  • Driver’s licence.
  • Experience in asset management is desirable.
  • Experience in irrigation system installation is desirable.

Salary package:

From $109,200 to $120,390 per annum pro rata, plus 11.5% employer superannuation and additional co-contribution to your superannuation.
