We are seeking an agile and highly skilled professional to manage the Reef Authority’s International engagement and capacity building activities, and to work in partnership with key stakeholders to promote awareness of threats to coral reefs globally.
The position will also support Australia’s leading role in the International Coral Reef Initiative and other forums and contribute to shaping the strategic direction of the Reef Authority.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Reef Authority’s international engagement by leading its contributions to global forums such as the International Coral Reef Initiative, shaping strategic direction through capacity building and relationship management, and coordinating international conference participation and delegation hosting.
- Exercise sound professional judgement in anticipating, managing and resolving problems relevant to the Reef Authority’s international business role, including monitoring budgets and progress towards key performance indicators.
- Contribute to managing the Reef Authority’s responsibilities for Commonwealth, National and World Heritage matters, including liaising with other government departments.
- Coordinate and prepare high quality advice and written material that is timely, practical, transparent and risk-based. Advice will cover complex matters including international and the Reef Authority’s involvement with international bodies. Material could include ministerial correspondence and cables, briefs, reports, position statements, strategic policies and plans.

- You are experienced in relationship and stakeholder management.
- You have experience working with international affairs.
- You thrive under pressure, have an eye for detail and don’t get flustered when faced with competing priorities.
- You enjoy being part of a cohesive team.
