Currently, there are around 4.3 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 600,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.
A new role awaits
The Controls Assurance Team is a newly established dedicated team focused on enhancing risk management, improving operational efficiency, supporting decision making and strengthening stakeholder confidence through control assurance activities within the NDIA.
The Controls Assurance Team is a part of the Risk, Audit and Resilience Division. We are seeking a dynamic APS6 Controls Assurance Officer to join our team and drive the function’s crucial work within the Division directly supporting the Agency’s objectives.

In the APS6 Controls Assurance role you will be responsible for delivering assurance strategies and undertaking assurance work.
Responsibilities of the role may include:
- Undertaking control design and effectiveness reviews and control maturity assessments.
- Analysing and identifying vulnerabilities and control gaps.
- Undertaking assurance strategy health checks and deep dives; stage gate reviews and root cause analysis and assurance mapping.
- Contributing to refining processes and ensuring ongoing program success and continuous improvement.

The Controls Assurance team is a newly formed team looking for diverse experience and capabilities. We are looking for a candidate that can hit the ground running and brings with them a relevant degree or certification, such as but not limited to Business, Finance, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Governance, Compliance, Risk management, Project management, Fraud control and investigation.

While this role is ideally performed from Deakin - ACT, Geelong - VIC or Richmond - VIC, flexible working arrangements may be considered. We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
