ONI is seeking an experienced psychologist with a strong clinical foundation, who is motivated, passionate about supporting others, and values a diverse and collaborative approach in their daily work.
The Roles
Psychologists play a pivotal role applying their expertise in psychological and behavioural sciences across a wide spectrum of responsibilities throughout their careers at the Office of National Intelligence (ONI).
As a Psychologist within ONI, you will deliver a comprehensive array of psychological services utilising your analytical expertise, assessment capabilities, and deep understanding of psychological risk factors.
The tasks you will undertake as an APS6 Psychologist are diverse and impactful. These may include:
- Conducting thorough psychological assessments and offering expert insights on assessment outcomes.
- Delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions tailored to address personal and professional challenges.
- Engaging in research, project management, and analysis of current psychological trends affecting organisational health, insider threats, and staff wellbeing.
The role responsibilities as an APS6 Psychologist will allow you to apply your psychological expertise in dynamic and meaningful ways, contributing directly to the mission of the National Intelligence Community (NIC).
The Team
ONI’s Psychological Services team is a dynamic and growing team. We provide ONI with a range of services including, but not limited to, initial and ongoing assessment of employee suitability to work in a high-security environment, in house psychological intervention/counselling for staff and management, provision of evidence-informed psycho-education programs in addition to coaching and team building initiatives.

Our ideal candidate will also have:
- Demonstrated experience in conducting clinical assessments using case formulation methodology.
- The ability to communicate psychological opinions and advice to support organisational functions.
- The ability to manage competing priorities with fluctuating workloads.
- Well-developed problem-solving skills.
- A strong team-oriented approach.

Our ideal candidate would demonstrate:
- Proven capability in delivering a range of clinical interventions.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting psychological assessments across various contexts.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills across a range of forums.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to effectively prioritise and manage your workload.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Post-graduate studies, or completing studies in Clinical, Organisational, or Forensic Psychology;
- At least two years post-registration experience; and
- Unconditional registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
