The Position
The Systems Administrator is required to provide comprehensive server, storage and enterprise infrastructure applications support services for Stadiums Queensland (SQ). This includes the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support and optimisation of all server, storage and data retention hardware and software.
The Systems Administrator is also required to manage the organisation’s desktop SOE, troubleshoot server and storage performance issues, as well as analyse usage patterns and provide capacity planning solutions.
Key Tasks
Provide day-to-day technical support to SQ’s server and storage environment including physical hardware, VMware virtual infrastructure and Microsoft Server platforms, including resource and capacity management.
Manage the commissioning/decommissioning of servers in accordance with approved policies and procedures ensuring all software is appropriately licensed.
Plan, implement and review software installation activities including new software deployments, software updates and software patching for both infrastructure and business applications.
Manage SQ’s Active Directory environment including user account and group management, group policy management, etc. in a multi-domain environment.
Manage SQ’s Managed Operating Environment (MOE) for desktops in accordance with approved policies and procedures.
Manage SQ’s backup and recovery software platforms and ensure restore points and services are operating as expected and available in line with the Crisis Management and Disaster Recovery plans.
Develop, update and maintain system documentation including operational documentation (such as service requests and change requests), procedural documentation, architectural documentation and user guides.
Update/use system monitoring tools to ensure optimal system performance and adequate alerting when issues arise.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and assist the IT Services Unit evolve with technology changes in the industry.
Identify and resolve problems and provide quick work-around solutions (when required), across a broad range of technologies.
About You
Tertiary qualification in Information and Communications Technology (or equivalent qualification in ICT) with a minimum of 2 years’ practical experience as a systems administrator, or
Relevant equivalent practical ICT experience with a minimum of 6 years’ practical experience as a systems administrator.
Proven experience and success supporting enterprise-level server and storage solutions.
Experience with server and storage planning, security principles, and general server and storage management best practices.
Demonstrated experience supporting core infrastructure platforms such as VMware virtual infrastructure and Microsoft Server based systems.
Demonstrated experience supporting core business technologies and platforms.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot ICT related problems and work with team members, internal clients, external service providers and vendors to implement effective solutions.
Demonstrated experience in supporting traditional corporate systems and services, such as desktop PC’s and business productivity applications, file storage and printing, network connectivity and remote access services.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to explain complex technical issues and systems in practical, simple everyday English.
Experience in documenting technical solutions, processes and procedures.
Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.

Stadiums Queensland is overseen by a Board of Directors and began operations on 21 December 2001, under the Major Sports Facilities Act 2001.
