About This Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Clinical Trials Manager to provide specialised project management and clinical trial management skills to develop and support the IVCare Adaptive Platform Trial.
The aim of this large, adaptive platform trial is to determine the best combination of infection prevention interventions for patients requiring a central venous catheter under the Infection Prevention and Vascular Access Group located within the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work and UQ Centre for Clinical Research at the University of Queensland.
The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of clinical governance and ethics compliance, developing, monitoring and reporting on the project plan for the clinical study, and drafting governance protocols and guidelines. You will participate in collaborative multi-disciplinary research activities with internal and external collaborators, nationally and internationally.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Developing a project plan to meet funding and partner agreements, monitoring research project timelines, and managing research project documents
- Maintaining an effective project governance framework, ensuring research compliance with relevant guidelines, and reporting to meeting external funding requirements
- Collaborating with onsite staff at partner hospitals to oversee the establishment and ongoing operation of trial sites in accordance with guidelines
- Developing clinical trial documentation, coordinating ethics and regulatory applications for individual recruiting sites, ensuring patient safety, and reporting adverse events

About You
Ideally, you will be able to demonstrate:
- Postgraduate Tertiary qualifications, preferably in a science or health care discipline or relevant senior experience working in a science or health setting
- Previous experience working on clinical projects within an academic, CRO or pharmaceutical environment
- Relevant experience in project management including evidence of management of project budget/s >$1m
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well and flexibly i.e. autonomously, in small teams and with a wide range of varying stakeholders
- Ability to see the big picture, yet still focus on detail
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable in the face of ambiguity and competing stakeholder needs
- Extensive experience with the Redcap Database
- Previous experience with clinical site initiations and clinical site monitoring
- Strong focus on quality of work
- Proficient in use of the Microsoft office suite of products including word, excel, PowerPoint and outlook
- Ability to travel
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including the right to work in Australia, criminal check, education check, and mandatory immunisations.
