Technical & Project Officer

Location: Hobart / Southern TAS (Launceston / Northern TAS considered for an exceptional candidate)

Employment Type: Full-Time (1.0 FTE)

Part-Time: 0.8–0.6 FTE considered for an exceptional candidate

Classification: Engineering / Manufacturing / Technical Operations

Award: Manufacturing and Associated Industries and Occupations Award 2020

Level: Level 3 – Level 5 (based on experience and qualifications)

Salary: $55,000 – $82,500 (pro rata, commensurate with skills and experience)

About the Role

We are seeking a Technical & Project Officer to support our Engineering and Technical Project teams in the delivery of technical projects and operational excellence over the next five years.

This role is ideal for a technically-minded, detail-oriented individual who thrives in structured, process-driven environments. You will play a key role in supporting compliance and auditing tasks, technical liaison, and project administration — all critical to the successful rollout and continual improvement of products and systems across our operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead compliance checks and perform technical audits

- Provide technical support to product installers and end users (full training provided)

- Liaise with key supply-chain and engineering partners

- Create and manage technical communications such as field letters and engineering change notices

- Perform administrative and technical tasks across projects, operations, and stakeholder engagement

- Support document versioning, project tracking, and reporting in digital systems

Essential Skills and Experience

We’re looking for someone who brings technical capability, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work across varied disciplines.

Applicants should have one or more of the following technical backgrounds or experiences:

- Electrical, electronics, or power systems

- Building trades, HVAC, lifts/elevators, or asset/site management

- Cabling, networking, or communications

- Technical drafting or CAD

- Computer hardware/software commissioning

- CNC or industrial machinery

- Project or operations support in a related industry

Additional requirements:

- Comfortable in technical environments; occasional use of power and hand tools may be required

- Strong written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail

- Medium-to-high level computer proficiency including:

- Document creation and version control

- Structured file management

- Use of SaaS tools such as project management platforms, CRMs, ERPs, and automation tools

- Willingness to gain proficiency in tools such as AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, or similar

- An understanding of (or interest in developing skills in):

- Australian Standards and regulatory frameworks

- Supply chain management (including JIT and LEAN operations)

- Industry 4.0 concepts including cloud computing, IoT, additive manufacturing, and AI

- Value chain dynamics and impacts of global technology trends

Desirable Attributes

- Ability to interpret and generate technical documentation

- Experience in stakeholder communication and documentation development

- A proactive mindset with a desire to contribute to continuous improvement

- Financial acumen and understanding of operational workflows

- Willingness to travel periodically for training and site engagement
