Network Design and Integration is a Group within the Department of Transport and Planning and is responsible for delivering transport priorities through the planning, development and maintenance of an integrated pipeline of projects and strategic initiatives that provide safe, efficient and sustainable outcomes for all Victorians.

About the Role

This is a fixed term role for 24 months. The Project Officer is a position within the Inland Rail project team and is responsible for ensuring that the Inland Rail project in Victoria is delivered in accordance with State requirements.

Reporting to the Manager, Coordination- Inland Rail, the Project Officer will support the development and delivery of major transport initiatives to achieve an integrated transport network in Victoria bringing significant economic value across the State.

The Project Officer prepares project expense recovery plans, leads the development of e-briefings and reports for ministers and senior executives, contributes to effective project governance and supports the manager in project design and delivery related issues management function. Liaising with key internal and external stakeholders throughout the lifespan of a project to ensure successful planning and delivery in an important attribute of the role.

The role also supports the client interface function between the relevant delivery agency (Major Transport Infrastructure Authority (MTIA), V/Line, VicTrack or other) and the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP), other government departments and a wide range of stakeholders, to ensure that project objectives and network outcomes are met throughout the project life cycle.

- Project Coordination -Effectively coordinate projects of defined scope under guidance, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget and to specified, established, and recognised work procedures and quality standards.

- Customer centered -Represent Department in a professional and customer- centered manner when interacting with clients and stakeholders, effectively resolving, escalating, or redirecting issues as necessary.

Key Selection Criteria

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Officer to support the delivery of key initiatives that shape Victoria's transport future. As a Project Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring effective and timely project delivery. You will be expected to manage your tasks effectively, maintaining accurate project records and prioritising work based on urgency and impact. With a strong focus on internal and external customers, you will monitor satisfaction levels and seek out ways to continuously improve services.

Collaboration is key in this role. You'll support community and stakeholder engagement processes and understand the value of co-design in delivering meaningful and lasting outcomes. Clear communication and a shared commitment to outcomes will be vital to your success.
