The Manager for the Fire Sprinkler Division is responsible for overseeing and managing a team of sprinkler fitters for all field installation and repair of all wet fire sprinkler systems, ranging from immediate call outs, ad hoc repairs, quoted service works and small project installations.

This role is to ensures compliance with industry regulations, manages project schedules, completion of quoted service works and leads a team of fire protection sprinkler fitters and leading hands.

The manager will also be responsible for quality control, to oversee the successful completion of small projects, project handover to builders, completing final onsite markups and liaison with the electrical supervisor for any joint trade service quoted works, safety compliance, and customer satisfaction.

This position is intended to be a joint office and onsite management role, with a consistent contact to all clients and builders, including preliminary project inspections to organise and procure materials, inspect projects before hand over, manage all pressure testing & ITP’s and work with the leading hands on the projects to assist with labour as required to meet project deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Coordination:

Obtain project hand over information from Estimator and coordinate with contracts administrator for all required hand over checklists to be completed for project commencement.

Work closely with the Project Director / Manager to understand project requirements, expectations and schedules for all open projects.

Oversee and manage multiple fire sprinkler system installation projects and workflow of quoted service jobs.

Ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to standards.

Coordinate and communicate with clients, contractors, other trade professionals and our internal administration to streamline workflow.

Maintain clear and effective communication with stakeholders regarding project progress.

Attend weekly labour load meetings in the office with management team.

Attend Builder onsite coordination meetings as required.

2. Estimation and Project Planning:

Work with Senior Estimator to understand the estimation process to then implement and manage projects and service quotes effectively.

Assist with workload of Senior Estimator to process small estimations as required to keep up with workflow demands.

Work collaboratively with onsite leading hands for any technical assistance required, defect diagnostics and trouble shooting.

Plan and schedule projects in unison and in conjunction with onsite leading hands for successful completion of projects and service works to meet all clients and builders' timeframes

Conduct inspections and testing to verify system functionality and compliance and completion of all projects and major service works.

Oversee all schedule all annual testing as required via liaison with the maintenance supervisor for completion each month to meet contracted clients’ schedules.

3. Team Leadership & Training:

Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of sprinkler fitters, technicians, and apprentices.

Empower with autonomy the leading hands whilst providing support as required.

Assign tasks and monitor performance to ensure high-quality workmanship.

Conduct training sessions to ensure team members are up to date on industry best practices and safety regulations.

Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

4. Safety & Compliance:

Implement and enforce safety protocols in accordance with OSHA and company standards

Work with contract administration team as required to ensure all minimum project safety checklists are established prior to project commencement.

Conduct job site safety inspections and enforce the use of proper PPE and safe work practices as required.

Ensure compliance with fire safety codes, building regulations, and insurance requirements.

Maintain proper documentation of inspections, tests, and service records.

5. Customer Relations & Business Development:

Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding sprinkler system projects and reactive sprinkler maintenance.

Provide technical recommendations and solutions to clients to enhance fire protection and job creation.

Assist in preparing cost estimates, proposals, and contract negotiations.

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to generate repeat business and referrals.

6. Inventory & Equipment Management:

Oversee procurement of materials, tools, and equipment required related to all business sprinkler works, reporting to Project Director for projects and managing Director for service-related works.

Ensure proper maintenance, storage, and usage of sprinkler system components and company assets, including to keep a register of plant and track its location.

Monitor inventory levels and coordinate supply orders to prevent project delays, maximize efficiency and minimize procurement costs.

Qualifications & Experience:

· Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction industry in a management capacity.

· Strong knowledge of fire sprinklers systems within the construction industry.

· Proven leadership experience in supervising teams and projects.

· Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.

· Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot.

· Strong communication and organizational skills.

· Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as needed.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

· Ability to work in various conditions, including heights, confined spaces, and outdoor environments.

· Capable of lifting to 50kg and performing physical labour as required.

· Must be able to work flexible hours, including overtime and emergency callouts when necessary.
