Accounts Officer
St John Ambulance Australia (NT) Inc. (St John) is a self-funding charitable organisation. We are dedicated to helping the people of Northern Territory in sickness, distress, suffering and danger. We provide emergency and non-emergency ambulance services under contract to the Northern Territory Government and deliver a range of first aid services including world class first aid training, first aid kits and medical services at events to enable public safety.
We are seeking a detail-oriented, reliable, and adaptable team member to join our organisation in a dynamic administrative and finance support role. This position covers a range of essential duties, with a particular focus on bank reconciliations, invoicing, data entry, and general administration.
ABOUT THE ROLE
- Bank Reconciliations: Perform and maintain accurate bank reconciliations across all entities to ensure alignment with financial records.
- Accounts Receivable and Payable: Oversee the end-to-end processing of accounts payable and receivable functions across multiple entities.
- Invoicing: Generate and submit accurate, timely invoices to external stakeholders in accordance with contractual and reporting requirements.
- Administration: Undertake general administrative duties including handling return mail, maintaining filing systems, and managing archiving tasks.
- Database Management: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data within the Siren Ambulance Case Reporting System.
- Information Handling: Collect, store, and manage sensitive information in a timely, secure, and confidential manner consistent with organisational policy and privacy standards.
ABOUT YOU
You Have:
- A strong grasp of basic mathematics, especially in time management and number sequencing.
- The ability to follow digital instructions for accurate data entry and retrieval.
- Solid communication skills – you're approachable, professional, and know how to build strong working relationships.
- Experience in organising and recording routine information using standard formats.
- A proactive approach – you follow instructions, track your progress, and meet deadlines with ease.
- Confidence in solving task-related problems and making sound, low-impact decisions.
You Bring:
- At least 1 year of relevant experience.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or business studies.
- Experience working in a Not-for-Profit organisation – you understand mission-driven work.
- Previous employment at an accounting firm – you’re familiar with financial environments and professional standards.
