The Shire of Capel is located in the South West, halfway between Bunbury and Busselton. We are nestled between the beach and the forest and are one of the fastest growing coastal Shires in Australia. This is a dynamic and detail-focused role responsible for managing both physical and digital records throughout their lifecycle. As a Records Officer, you will oversee the registration, digitisation, storage and disposal of records in accordance with the State Records Act 2000, the Shire’s Recordkeeping Plan and internal procedures. You’ll process incoming and outgoing mail, manage email correspondence and maintain data accuracy within the Electronic Document Management System (EDMS).
The role also involves supporting staff by delivering training, promoting records awareness and providing guidance on best practice. You'll contribute to reporting and compliance audits, ensure confidentiality in handling sensitive information and play an active role in improving systems and processes. This position offers variety, responsibility and the chance to work with a friendly, collaborative team while supporting a culture of accountability, quality and continuous improvement.

A sound understanding of records systems and standards, particularly in local government settings, along with experience or interest in IT and digital initiatives, will be highly regarded.
