The Shire of Exmouth is a vibrant and thriving community located in the stunning northwest region of WA. We are seeking a proactive and dedicated Procurement Officer on a permanent full-time basis.
Reporting to the Manager Finance, the Procurement Officer coordinates the Shire’s procurement and tendering functions to ensure compliance with the Local Government Act as well as other relevant regulations and Council policies and guidelines.
In this role you will review and update the Shire’s procurement practices to ensure they are used as guiding document and embedded throughout the Shire and provide ongoing procurement training programs that ensure Council staff have a strong understanding of the procurement police and procedures. As the Procurement Officer, you will provide direction and support to officers in undertaking the purchase of goods and services in accordance with the requirements of the Local Government Act 1995, its subsidiary legislation and the Shires internal policy and procedures. The Procurement Officer is responsible for coordinating the opening, closing and evaluation of tenders, expressions of interest and request for quotations to ensure information is appropriately registered, ensuring probity, confidentiality and transparency throughout the process.
It would be desirable for the successful applicant to have previous experience in Local Government, in particular within procurement practice, financial management, and corporate governance; however, it is not essential. Ideally, the successful applicant will have a Diploma in a relevant discipline such as Procurement or Business, or relevant demonstrated experience.

What we offer: Depending on your current skill set and experience this position is classified as a Level 6/7 under the Shire of Exmouth Enterprise Agreement 2017, and comes with the following remuneration benefits;
· base salary of $73,250 - $76,748 per annum
· Housing (Single room in shared accommodation) if available OR housing allowance of $5,000
· Location allowance of $1,955
· Up to 21.5% superannuation (includes co-contribution by you)
· Regular RDOs and 5-weeks of annual leave
· Eligibility for long service leave after 7 years of service, uniform allowance, employee assistance program and other wellbeing services
