Join the team - combine your passions for art, music and events with making a difference in the community
Are you passionate about youth empowerment, music, and creative arts? Do you thrive in dynamic, hands-on environments where your work directly impacts the lives of young people? If so, this exciting opportunity is for you.
Why you'll love this role and what you'll do:
Jets Studio is the Youth Hub from which Banyule Youth Services operate from and is an innovative music and creative arts youth focussed facility. The facility is based in Bundoora in northern metropolitan Melbourne.
In this role you'll work with young people on innovative and new creative projects where you can combine passions for art, music and events with making a difference in the community. You'll work within a driven and passionate team on shared and individual projects, while working with young people on small to large scale projects.
As our Youth Program Officer, you'll be at the heart of the Jets Team, helping to create inspiring programs and events that empower young people across our municipality. Working under the guidance of the Jets Team Leader and Youth Services Coordinator, your work will span music, creative arts, technical training, and event management — all while fostering pathways for youth development and participation. You'll also:

- Engage program participants to support Banyule Youth & Community Connections events, activities, public activations and school holiday delivery.
- Develop semi-structured programming for young people wanting to upskill in multi-media equipment and design/editing and other relevant skills.
This is a permanent part time position, working 30 hours per week. The 30 hours per week are spread over Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 9am-5pm, Tuesday 11am-7pm. This role is part time, however at times will require additional hours, flexible start times, and weekend work.
What you'll bring/what we are looking for:
You're a driven and compassionate youth worker who understands the power of music, arts and connection. You have a flair for coordination, a passion for creativity, and the ability to engage and inspire young people from diverse backgrounds. You'll have:
- Demonstrated experience in facilitating small, medium and large youth-orientated activities, events and public activations within defined budgets and funding eligibility frameworks
- Demonstrated ability to research, learn and teach promotional strategies to young people.
- Demonstrated ability to provide constructive, evidence-based feedback to young people engaged by services in a volunteer/contracted capacity.
- Demonstrated experience engaging young people in a generalist group-work setting through the use of activities and inclusive programming. (Group work is not therapeutic, examples of strategies to maintain program focus are required).
- Strong understanding of Youth Work Principals and frameworks for harm minimisation.
- Ability to develop strong professional relationships with key stakeholders both within Council, the local community and state government.
- Demonstrated knowledge of child safety standards, professional boundaries and requirements for all ages events from a legislative lens.
Pre-employment requirements:

- Working with Children's Check
What we offer:
- A permanent part time position, working 30 hours per week.

- Salary $61,450.88 to $71,165.82 per annum plus super (for comparison at full time this would be $77,785.93 - $90,083.32 per annum plus super).
