The Opportunity
Moonee Valley City Council are currently seeking an experienced leader to fill the position of Senior Coordinator Emergency & Resilience.
Reporting to the Manager Customer Experience & Insights, this position plays an integral leadership role in the overall development of an integrated organisation-wide system and approach, in which all teams and individuals within MVCC understand their responsibilities in the planning, preparation, response, and recovery in emergency management and business continuity
Responsibilities
- Lead Council's preparation and response to emergency management, including the development, implementation, monitoring and review of Council's key activities and programs, and leading a team of cross council employees to deliver services as necessary.
- Taking on statutory roles of Municipal Recovery Manager (MRM) and/or Municipal Emergency Management Officer (MEMO) in the event of an emergency.
- Provide effective command and control leadership in the management of Council's preparedness, response, relief and recovery phases of any emergency incidences including but not limited to municipal emergencies.
- Build capability and resilience across the organisation that mitigates the risks associated with an emergency event.
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities for Council's business continuity, internal emergency management. municipal emergency management and risk systems, plans and relevant sub-plans.
Skills & Experience
- Relevant tertiary qualifications including extensive and comprehensive proven experience in emergency management, disaster relief and recovery and/or the planning and coordination of Municipal Recovery operations.
- Extensive resource management experience including exemplary leadership and positive people management experience.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, policy and theory in municipal emergency management and recovery, combined with a demonstrated understanding of the application of risk management and community safety principles in relation to emergency planning.
- High level and extensive project management skills to be able to manage a complex portfolio demonstrating a combination of technical expertise as well as political, social, legal, economic and financial acumen.
- Qualifications in project management and/or workplace training and assessment are also highly desirable.
