This role will involve working within a bridge maintenance & construction crew based at Wagga, ensuring project specifications and work plan requirements are followed and implemented.
This involves various duties, including checking work activities, performing measurements, and ensuring adherence to project plans and contract requirements. You will also be responsible for completing accurate records; conducting safety, environmental and quality checks and audits; and may include leading team members, completing competency assessments and staff/contractor inductions.
You will also be required to carry out general labouring and hands-on construction duties, including using a variety of small plant and powered/non-powered hand tools to assist with the completion of work activities.
A key component of this role will be understanding and maintaining knowledge of WHS legislation, policies and procedures; assessing and controlling risks; records management; and industry requirements to minimise risk and model safe work behaviour.
The successful applicant will be confident, proactive and have experience operating within a civil construction/bridge works/road works environment or similar industry equivalent. You will have the ability to understand and apply quality assurance and specifications to units of work. You will also have a passion for quality assurance and attention to detail and understand the importance this has to the final product.
Sound literacy and numeracy skills and intermediate to advanced computer skills in MS Office Suite will assist in your success within this role.
Requirements of the role include:
Construction Industry Certification (White Card)
Work On Foot certificate (or willing to obtain - can be undertaken as part of the onboarding process for successful applicant/s)
Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team
Unencumbered Australian driver licence
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with members of the public, external providers and staff at all levels - in both written and oral form
demonstrated experience in physical labouring roles, preferably within civil or transport projects.
You will be required to work outside regular working hours as well as travel to various location across the region. Living away from home may occur during your working week, however the majority of your time should be based at Wagga. (applicable allowances paid and accommodation provided when working away from Wagga)
This role is currently available for an initial period of 3 months, with potential to extend beyond this timeframe. An immediate start of work is required and applicants must be available to work full time hours (8.5 hours/day - 9 day fortnight).
