This role will involve working within the bridge maintenance & construction crew based at Wagga, ensuring project specifications and work plan requirements for works are followed and implemented in accordance with quality and safety standards.
The focus of this role will be guiding, supporting and influencing field-based teams to perform their roles and works to WHS, traffic, environmental and quality standards - including accurate documenting of works, checks and records.
You will verify that work activities are completed to quality specifications by following established procedures, performing measurements to confirm quality both during and on completion of work, comparing results to engineering plans and contract requirements, and completing required records. This will involve safety, environmental and quality checks, audits, asset inspections, competency assessments and staff/contractor inductions.
A key component of this role will be understanding and maintaining knowledge of WHS legislation, policies and procedures; assessing and controlling risks; records management; and industry requirements to minimise risk and model safe work behaviour.
The successful applicant will have proven experience operating within a civil construction environment or industry equivalent. A sound understanding of bridge maintenance and construction, and associated infrastructure is required. A strong technical understanding of industry quality specifications will be highly regarded.
Requirements of the role include:
Construction Industry Certification (White Card)
Work On Foot certificate (or willing to obtain - can be undertaken as part of the onboarding process for successful applicant/s)
Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team
Unencumbered Australian driver licence
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with members of the public, external providers and staff at all levels - in both written and oral form.
Ability and willingness to undertake manual labouring tasks.
You will be required to work outside regular working hours as well as travel to various location across the region. Living away from home may occur during your working week, however the majority of your time should be based at Wagga. (applicable allowances paid and accommodation provided when working away from Wagga)
This role is currently available for an initial period of 3 months, with potential to extend beyond this timeframe. An immediate start of work is required and applicants must be available to work full time hours (8.5 hours/day - 9 day fortnight).
