Posted 17 days ago
Our client- a locally owned, well-regarded leader in asphalt and road construction- is seeking a confident and capable WHS Manager to take full ownership of safety across NSW operations.
With over 10 years of success delivering government, commercial, and residential projects, this is your opportunity to step into a key role in a business that values safety, people, and progress.
Why This Role?
This is more than a compliance role- it’s your chance to own WHS across a fast-paced, high-risk environment. You’ll work closely with a second WHS Manager, each taking charge of your area of the business. Be a visible, trusted leader where your work drives safety culture and change.
- Spend 1–2 days in-office at the Tomago facility; the rest on project sites, ranging from local work to regional travel (including Moree).
- Company vehicle + fuel card included, with personal use allowed.
Your Mission:
From asphalt plants to heavy vehicles and yard facilities, you’ll deliver hands-on, practical safety leadership. Build safety culture, lead risk management, and ensure strong systems that go beyond compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee WHS for plant, yard, and maintenance, including training, fire safety & dangerous goods.
- Conduct risk assessments for vehicles, equipment, and asphalt operations.
- Coordinate training (WAH, EWP, Confined Space), onboard new staff, and manage VOCs.
- Carry out audits, pre-starts, inspections, and safety checks across multiple sites.
- Investigate incidents, lead root cause analysis, and apply corrective actions.
- Support servicing schedules, warranty compliance, and cost tracking with maintenance teams.
- Lead emergency planning, drills, and safety culture initiatives.
- Ensure contractor WHS compliance and oversee EPA reporting and waste tracking.
What You’ll Bring:
- Diploma or Degree in WHS or similar.
- Solid experience building and leading WHS programs.
- Strong working knowledge of WHS laws and safety systems.
- Experience with risk assessments, investigations, and training delivery.
- A collaborative approach and strong communication skills.
- Detail-focused with a passion for continuous improvement in safety practices.
