This position will be offered as Full time Permanent role working at head office at Epping NSW.
Role Purpose
The Clinical Quality Data Scientist is a key contributor to enhancing clinical governance and quality management at Southern Cross Care (SCC) NSW & ACT.
This role is responsible for the systematic collation, monitoring and reporting of key clinical indicators across SCC, ensuring effective implementation and evaluation of the SCC Clinical Governance Framework, Quality
Management Systems and Purposeful Living Programs.
Reporting to the Clinical Governance Manager and closely collaborating with the Head of Quality Care Governance and Engagement, the Clinical Quality Data Scientist will collect, analyse and compile relevant Key Performance Indicator (KPI) data from daily operations and strategic initiatives.
This position requires strong collaboration with various stakeholders to accurately measure clinical outcomes, analyse data trends, identify underlying issues, and drive continuous quality improvement. Candidates should possess clinical expertise, a thorough understanding of SCC’s clinical and care processes, exceptional attention to detail, and strong data analytical skills. The role has a significant impact on patient care and organisational goals, making it essential for candidates to be passionate about quality improvement in the healthcare setting.
The Clinical Quality Data Scientist Key Responsibilities but not limited to:
Collation and Submission of Data
Collect, compile and submit relevant quality indicator data, including but not limited to National Quality Indicator Program (NQIP) data, in a timely and accurate manner to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and uphold the highest standards of care.
Quality Assurance Reporting
Evaluate and report on quality assurance activities, including the internal audit program, to identify improvement opportunities and ensure adherence to quality standards.
Coordination of the Internal Clinical Indicator Program
Assist in coordinating the internal clinical indicator program by ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of clinical outcomes that align with quality improvement efforts.
Collaboration with Stakeholders
Work closely with stakeholders, including ICT teams, to assess and enhance data integrity and consistency in data collection and reporting.
Data Entry Support for Projects
Assist in data entry and management related to clinical trials or quality improvement projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant protocols, as required.
Data Analysis and Trend Identification
Assist in extracting, cleaning and preparing data from various sources for analysis. Analyse collected data to identify trends, underlying issues, and opportunities for quality enhancement, providing actionable insights to the Clinical Governance Manager and National Quality and Clinical Governance Team.
Development of Reporting Tools
Contribute to the creation and maintenance of reporting tools and dashboards that facilitate effective monitoring and communication of clinical quality indicators.
Training and Support
Provide ongoing training and support to staff on data collection processes and quality improvement initiatives, promoting a culture of accountability and excellence within the organisation.
Requirements
Essential
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a relevant
field (e.g., health sciences, nursing, data
analysis).
Proven work experience in data collection,
analysis, and reporting
Strong understanding of data governance
Proficiency in data management software
and tools, with strong analytical skills. (e.g.
Power BI, Python, Tableau or similar
software)
Excellent communication and interpersonal
skills, with the ability to work
collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
Strong organisational skills and attention to
detail.
Desirable
Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant
field (e.g., health administration, public
health, quality management).
Experience working with clinical information in
a health care environment or complex data
projects with a data linkage component. (e.g.,
health informatics, statistics, data science,
epidemiology, public/clinical health).
Experience with specific data management
systems or software.
Familiarity with clinical governance, quality
management systems, and regulatory
requirements in aged care.
Familiarity with accreditation processes and
quality improvement frameworks in health
care
