We offer a range of services including Harm Reduction and Primary Health Services as well as a range of treatment types (including residential treatment centres, community-based support programs, counselling, and withdrawal management services).
About the role
We are seeking a values-driven Cook who will prepare and serve nutritious quality food to participants of Mount Isa Recovery Services Centre according to menus, monitor methods of food handling, preparation, meal service and equipment cleaning within specified timeframes and in line with the values and ethos of The Salvation Army.
You will successfully
- Prepare high volume meals for residential participants in accordance with food handling requirements
- Prepare nutritional quality food for participants of the centre within required timeframes and in line with approved menu and budget.
- Development of menu plans for the approval of the manager.
- Ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen and dining areas ensuring food is handled and prepared in line with Australian Food Safety Standards, TSA policies and procedures and government regulations.
- Maintain stock levels, taking deliveries and storage of supplies and food products in line with budget restraints and TSA policy and procedures.
- Ensure the rotation of food and track quality to comply with HACCP standards
This is a full-time, permanent position located in Mount Isa, QLD. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Level 3 Award.

You will have
- Certificate III, commercial cookery trade qualification or a willingness to work towards obtaining qualifications
- Demonstrated experience and ability in kitchen/catering operations
- Ability to work a flexible roster, covering staff absences and planned leave across 7 days.
- Minimum of 1 year experience working in a commercial kitchen
- Knowledge and experience of safe food handling requirements
- Knowledge of HACCP is highly regarded
- A Full Driver's Licence
- A Current and Paid Working with Children Check
- First Aid Cert or willingness to get one
