About the role
Parliament of Tasmania offers a supportive environment to enable our employees to do the best work of their career. We’re looking to recruit a permanent Parliamentary Officer – Visitors Services and Deputy Sergeant-at-Arms.
The Parliamentary Officer – Visitor Services and Deputy Sergeant-at-Arms supervises the House of Assembly tours and concierge service providing apolitical services to Members of Parliament and visitors to Parliament House.
The position co-ordinates the Parliamentary Assistants in delivering services (and assists to deliver services) to Members of the House and officers in the House of Assembly Chamber as required when the House is sitting.
The position supports the Sergeant-at-Arms in relation to House of Assembly protocol and ceremonial matters and parliamentary events, groups and delegations as required.
As a trusted colleague, you’ll have professional flexibility to perform the role whilst being empowered to build a sense of community at work. You’ll be reporting to the Clerk-Assistant and Sergeant-at-Arms of the House of Assembly.

The Parliament is made up of three (3) separate Departments consisting of House of Assembly, Legislative Council, and Legislature - General.
Location

We want to hear from you if you have
Relevant tertiary qualifications.
Highly developed customer service skills.
Proven ability to supervise and direct staff, use initiative, make decisions, and take responsibility.
Proven capacity to work as part of a team and be adaptive and flexible.
Excellent time management skills including a demonstrated ability to, prioritise, plan and organise work, exercise initiative, and appropriately apply judgement to ensure delivery to deadlines.
Have or be able to obtain a working with vulnerable children check and national police check.
