Transforming Aboriginal Outcomes - Strategic Policy and Commissioning Darwin

Develop a cohesive vision and strategy to transform outcomes for Aboriginal children and families in line with the Aboriginal Security Framework.
Department of Children and Families (DCF) provides support services across child protection, out of home care, homelessness services, prevention of domestic, family and sexual violence and family and parent support services.
As Director Transforming Aboriginal Outcomes (SAO2) your primary objective is to provide strategic advice and leadership to drive transformational reforms to improve outcomes for Aboriginal children, families and communities, through structural reform and culturally competent and responsive services. This includes leading the strategic policy, advice and contributing to the implementation of the Agency’s and Government’s commitment to Closing the Gap and other relevant Territory and Federal Government strategies, frameworks and action plans, that will enhance outcomes for Aboriginal people and communities.
To meet the challenges of this strategic role you will collaborate with DCF leadership to develop a cohesive Agency vision and strategy to transform outcomes for Aboriginal children and families in line with the Aboriginal Cultural Security Framework. Your key responsibilities will include building, strengthening and sustaining engagement and partnership with Aboriginal stakeholders that progress principles of self-determination, Aboriginal co-design and collaboration in policy and program design and implementation.
In addition, you will be required to maintain currency of contemporary trends in policy, research and evidence gathering to guide the Agency’s approach to addressing Aboriginal outcomes and reforms.
To be successful you require a proven track record of providing strategic advice and leadership in the development and implementation of policies, strategies and programs that deliver key government initiatives relating to Aboriginal people. High level strategic, conceptual, analytical and collaborative skills together with advanced communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as demonstrated experience working consultatively and in partnership with Aboriginal people and organisations.
In return, you’ll receive a competitive remuneration package, inclusive of 11.5% superannuation, 6 weeks’ recreational and 3 weeks’ personal leave, 17.5% annual leave allowance and additional paid leave to cover the Christmas – New Year’s shut-down.
