About the role:

We are looking for a full-time, experienced chef to join our team and prepare delicious meals for our guests and visitors. The position is located in Nullagine, Western Australia, a remote Pilbara town. Nullagine is rich in mining and gold prospecting history with some great sights to see and local attractions. The successful applicant will be responsible for the running of the Nullagine Hotel pub kitchen as well as preparation of the food offered in the roadhouse. We are looking for someone who will endeavour to uphold a high standard for pub fare and be willing to create new dishes and improve on the current offerings.

Duties Required;
· Planning, organising and participating in the development of new menus

· Preparing and cooking food from the menu using different cooking methods and techniques

· Overseeing kitchen operations including training staff and ensuring everyone upholds food safety standards and procedures

· Ordering of food supplies and equipment as required

· Maintaining the kitchen equipment so it remains clean and operational

· Ensure dishes are presented well, portioned correctly and seasoned

· Maintain the organisation of the fridge and freezers to ensure stock is properly rotated and always labelled.

· Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements when needed

· Collaborate with staff to create new and exciting offerings for both the restaurant and the fuel station to increase repeat traffic to the business

· Be able to multitask and maintain a friendly person within a small team

· Always comply and enforce safety measures within the kitchen

· Have strong communication skills and attention to detail

· Maintain good communication between the hotel manager and owners with any issues that arise or items needing to be repaired or replaced.

Requirements and Skills:
· Completion of an apprenticeship with a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery to apply for the position.

· Minimum of two year’s experience in a kitchen as a chef in charge.

· Have full working rights to work in Australia without restrictions

· Good leadership skills and time management abilities

The position requires approx. 40 hours per week and on a six day roster. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to work in a small country town and be in charge of their own kitchen. The role will sometimes require more hours when the hotel is fully booked or there are events on in town, in these situations we would require someone who is willing to do these extra hours. Food and board will be offered at a rate of $300 per week which includes all utilities and internet.
