We are seeking a Senior Mental Health Social Worker (MHSW) to lead the delivery of psychosocial and therapeutic services across our veteran engagement programs. This role is responsible for both individual clinical engagement and facilitation of group programs, helping veterans navigate complex challenges and access holistic care pathways.

You will work within a multi-disciplinary model, collaborating with GPs, care coordinators, and program facilitators to deliver services via telehealth and community-based group settings.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments and mental health consultations with veterans (telehealth and in-person)

Co-design personalised treatment plans and set recovery-oriented goals with participants

Deliver group-based mental health support sessions in community settings (e.g. equine therapy, yoga, BJJ, aqua classes, etc.)

Participate in case conferencing, care coordination, and referrals within a wider veteran health ecosystem

Educate veterans on the broader support services available and facilitate warm handovers

Collect and record outcome data via follow-up surveys and clinical tools

Collaborate with Veteran Connect intake team and ecosystem service providers to ensure continuity of care

Mentor and support junior staff or student placements as required

Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and program design

Essential Requirements:

Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AASW registered)

Minimum 5 years’ experience in mental health service delivery

Experience working with veterans, trauma-impacted, or complex needs populations

Demonstrated skill in both one-on-one therapeutic interventions and group facilitation

Strong working knowledge of DVA, NDIS, or Medicare funding pathways

Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills

Proficient with digital health tools and telehealth delivery

Desirable Requirements:

Prior experience with program development or community engagement initiatives

Knowledge of veteran-specific psychosocial challenges and systemic barriers

Ability to work autonomously and as part of an interdisciplinary team

Experience in service evaluation or research-informed practice
