Chesworth Dairy Partnership produces 10.5 million p.a. Situated on 1900 acres on the banks of the Macquarie River 17kms west of Dubbo. We milk 1000 registered Holsteins. Our diversified business includes milk sales to Lactalis and our own business The Little Big Dairy; stud stock sales of both bulls and first lactation heifers and steers.

This farm has a state of the art milking facility with Bou-Matic metering supported by powerful Realtime monitoring. Numerous consultants are engaged to ensure the values and ethos are managed and realised.
About the role
The Dairy Farmer role is a full time position that will involve all day to day work and management of the operation. The passion of the applicant will dictate where the majority of the work will lie. The business has grown during the past couple of years and the need for a responsible and passionate dairy farmer is now necessary. The applicant would always be working with or under the supervision of a family member and joining a staff of 8+ others.
The Dairy Farmer's role includes all aspects of milk production including management and coordination of the milking shed routine, implement and monitor quality assurance procedures ensuring compliance through current and relevant documentation.
The Dairy Farmer's responsibilities will include supervising of the animal health programs ensuring optimal environments as outlined in the Australian Animal Welfare Standards and Guidelines - Cattle.
As a Dairy Farmer, you will be expected to implement calving procedures including the ability to physically conduct unsupervised internal assessments to minimise harm to unborn calf and mother.
The position will be responsible for developing livestock feeding plans including managing pastures and crops, and for identifying and reporting equipment not operating normally and the maintenance of plant and machinery.
The salary range for this position is $100,000 - 135,000 commiserate to skills and experience.

Skills and experience
Ability to manage milking systems, animal herd health and reproductive systems including heat detection and AI (certificate desirable) . Operate and maintain all farm machinery including 2 wheel motorbike & trailing feed mixer.
Experience in planning and managing pastures and crops for livestock grazing herds and feeding their daily requirements. Ability to condition score and assessment as part of diet formulas.
Animal Heath responsibilities include supervising animal health programs; maintenance of optimal environment underscored by the Australian Animal Standards and Guidelines - Cattle. Examples of duties include calving cows, tubing colostrum to calves, identifying and treating mastitis, sore eyes and general well-being of the herds.
Machinery operation including 2 wheel motorbike according to manufacturers instructions and on farm practices including identifying and reporting equipment/farm infrastructure needs for servicing and general maintenance.
Experience with using computers and phone herd management program Herd Metrix and Field Net apps to support your role is essential.
For this full time position we expect the applicant would have 5 - 7+ years recent working experience. Formal qualifications preferred. Have good English including spoken, reading and mathematical ability along with amiable personality with ability to work as part of a team as well as lead the team when necessary.
The salary range of $100,000 - 135,000 is commiserate to experience.
